Insulated steel fire station doors are also an option for fire departments that are looking for something more muted than a glass garage door. Insulated steel models have a flat, pebble grain exterior with slight pencil ribbing. Insulated steel fire station doors can include full vision sections if necessary.
The Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department was one such project that chose not to use full vision glass doors. Instead, the Caldwell project specified and received solid, insulated steel doors with an R-value of 16.
In this particular location, a single full vision row of glass was also included in the doors so the people of Caldwell could still catch glimpses of the beautifully maintained trucks and emergency vehicles.
